Information for 1st Degree Black Belt - Shodan

JUN-SHODAN   (Black Belt with White Stripe)

While looking at Shodan Requirements,  for Jun Shodan, one may be eligible to test by age 13.  This isn't the only age one may receive Jun-Shodan.  While testing for Shodan, one may earn Jun-Shodan. 

The following are required:

PHYSICAL:  20 push-ups OR 20 V's

KIHON:  Advanced Kihon OR 4-Way Kick

KATA:   Hanetsu OR Empi

PREVIOUS KATA:  A Heian OR  Bo Kata

KUMITE:  Must be able to defend self

TAMESHIWARI:   Must break one board from either  Punch/Strike OR Kick-while board being held

REPORT:  Written Report OR Technique Demonstration

BUNKAI:  Must be able to demonstrate your choice of Bunkai from either Kata

May be eligible for Shodan 6-months after 1st Kyu-Ikkyu Brown Belt and must be at least 16 years old to test for Shodan.

Must be active member of Perry Florida Shotokan Dojo

TAMESHIWARI:   Breaking two boards hanging by string, one with any punch or strike and one with any kick.
